Essay Three
Goals are given to us students to give us a better understanding of what we’re learning and gaining from the class we’re taking, and the fundamentals of Literacy. Learning English can be overwhelming, especially if an individual doesn’t have specific learning goals in mind. Think about the English skills you have already acquired, and the ones you want to get a grasp of. Determining your motivation will help you focus your studies more effectively on the areas you want to improve the most. Learning is not just a simplicity in our lives, learning in fact is one of the main factors of life; learning helps you with obtaining that job you dreamed for, or real world situations that can change who and what you are. Learning mainly consists of annotation, reading, writing, and peer activities. Learning more about the language arts strengthens ones intelligence, and success. Literacy is more than the ability to read and write; it’s also the ability to understand what you’re reading and make sense in what you’re writing. In most cases, literacy is achieved through many years of schooling, but in some of the stories we read in class, the authors had to give themselves and education instead of being taught by parents and teachers. During my years in school I was always competing with other students to be the best and the brightest, and it was a lot of work that I sometimes didn’t want to do. But while some people may think that attaining literacy requires hard work and gets little result, I think that literacy makes people more confident and ambitious, more aware, and more successful in life. Strong literacy skills are closely linked to the probability of having a good job, decent earnings, and access to training opportunities. Individuals with weak literacy skills are more likely to be unemployed or, if employed, to be in jobs that pay little or that offer poor hours or working conditions....
